True Crime & Spooky Stories from Castlegate of Old - site of the market place and execution!

Underdog Sessions header

Hosted by UnderDog, Brewdog Aberdeen's underground lounge, we meet regularly to thrill you with spinechilling fact and folklore

In 1398, King Robert III gave the city permission to erect a prison near the market square. The Tolbooth became the lock-up for some of Aberdeen's most notorious medieval and Georgian killers - hear tales of execution which happened for real just outside Underdog's present site, including, the bloody beheading of John Gordon, the riotous hanging of Andrew Hosack and the last public hanging in Aberdeen which took place in 1857, combined with nasty ballads and folk tales of that ilk.

Your tellers are Company Director, Dr Fiona-Jane Brown, Pauline Cordiner, and Isobel Addison from Grampian Association of Storytellers.

Join us for beer and bloodcurdling tales - down in the dark recesses of Underdog... which sits on the site of John Ewen's emporium, directly opposite the lost street of Huxter Row. History will come to life once again for all you fans of gore and ghosts!
