A walk celebrating women’s history in the city...


A walk celebrating women’s history in the city, beginning near the Music Hall, the site of a suffragette protest in 1913, and heading for the Grill, an infamous “men only” public house which was “invaded” by female delegates of the STUC in 1973, we introduce the lives of famous and not-so-famous females including Mary Garden, opera singer, Joan Eardley, artist, Mary Webb, pianist, Emily Wilding Davison, suffragette, Katherine Rolland Guild, medieval philanthropist, and end with a trip back in time to when Winston Churchill met his match with some local suffragettes in 1912.  And, find out who Aberdeen’s “four Maries” were!

End: Court Annexe, Castlegate (near the Wig pub)
